Luca’s Legacy – clean up event in Mandurah

In 2019, Luca, a 1-year old calf was observed entangled in fishing line. Luca was rescued and the fishing line removed but would soon become entangled another two times after this. Unfortunately, during the third disentanglement attempt, Luca sadly passed away. In response to Luca’s death, an annual clean-up event ‘Luca’s Legacy’ has been set up to remove fishing line and other waste from the Mandurah waterways.

Please join us on Sunday 25th October at our home base at the Port Bouvard Yacht Club (1 Thisbe Drive, Dawesville) or Site 2 (Mandurah Cruises – Creery Wetlands and Boundary Island – accessed by boat). Please review the Briefing Pack for more information.

  • 8.45am volunteers will sign in, receive equipment and start clean-up at 9am
  • Oui Love Coffee Van will be there for your morning fix!
  • 10.30am Clean up finishes – After the clean up
  • Free sausage sizzle and cool drink available for all participants
  • Enjoy the Stalls, Kids Activities and Prize Presentation
