Well known for his work on ABC TV's Gardening Australia program, Josh is also Director of Josh Byrne & Associates - a multi award winning Fremantle based consulting practice integrating the fields of landscape architecture, built environment sustainability, media and communications.

These fun, informative and interactive workshops and are designed to teach us how sustainable gardening practices can save you time, money, water and angst, while also helping to attract birds and other wildlife to your gardens.

Josh will help set the scene at the beginning of each workshop and help participants understand the impact of excessive nutrients on the Swan Canning river system and the role that RiverWise gardeners can play in helping the rivers. The workshops will also cover:

Garden Design

  • Hydrozoning and 'soil and nutrient' zoning
  • Plant selection
  • Irrigation design and management

Understanding Your Soil

  • Soil testing
  • Improving soil

Effective and Responsible Fertiliser Use

  • Selecting the right fertiliser
  • Fertiliser alternatives
  • Application

If you're unable to attend one of these workshops, you can still benefit from Josh's gardening smarts, by reviewing the Your Garden with Josh Byrn Garden Guide that he created especially for this workshop series. Download your copy now.
