Baby birds

Seeing a baby bird on the ground this time of year is normal. It is tempting to think they need rescuing but most of the time they don't. Their mum and dad are all they need and they won’t be far away but may not be back with food for a while – even a couple of hours.

Native animal rescue centres are currently full of baby birds so next time you see one, leave the bird where it is, observe from a distance and if you're still unsure, call the WILDCARE Helpline on 9474 9055.
