DESCRIPTION:Everlasting Ideas 2026 \nAn inspiring day exploring WA’s unique flora and fauna\, conservation\, research\, and our role in helping nature thrive.\n\nEvent information\n\n\n\nEverlasting Ideas features horticultural expert Josh Byrne together with Kings Park staff. With a series of keynote talks\, this free event will also feature stallholders covering all things gardening\, environment and landcare. \nHead along to the marquees near the Everlasting Meadow at the corner of Lovekin and Forrest Drives\, opposite the Yorkas Nyinning Building to hear talks from Sue McDougall\, Josh Byrne\, NatureLink Perth\, Detection for Good with Kelly the detection dog and ReWild Perth. \nABC’s Gardening Australia presenter and River Guardians Ambassador\, Josh Byrne\, will be on stage delivering his RiverWise Gardens presentation from 11am – 12pm\, with the final 20-30mins allocated to answering your gardening questions! Learn how to create a waterwise\, climate resilient garden that will help protect our precious rivers and support biodiversity and wildlife. \nThe Kings Park and Botanic Garden team will be at their help desk to answer your native gardening questions all day and will be joined with stands from: \n\nSERCUL – growing local plants and fertilise-wise programs\nReWild Perth – advice on how to build eye-catching gardens with local wildlife in mind\nNaturelink Perth – learn how we can work together to conserve WA’s unique biodiversity and integrate nature into our urban areas\nWater Corporation – highlighting waterwise programs and gardening\n\nThe Kings Park Science team will be highlighting some of their incredible research and conservation work. \nEnjoy FREE hands-on family-friendly workshops and nature activities with Kings Park Education supported by Spring into Parks\, a WA Parks Foundation initiative: \n\nEverlasting seed bags – decorate a wildflower-themed bag tag\, then add it to your very own mini bag of Everlasting seeds to grow at home\nWA Loves Nature – native bee displays and bee hotels\nJotterbooks – paper flower-making workshop inspired by native plants found in Kings Park\nWild masks – create a nature-inspired mask featuring colourful wildflowers or your favourite bush critter\nMini gardens – build a magical miniature garden in the sand using native nuts\, seeds and other natural treasures\n\nExplore the container garden bed displays\, unwind at the picnic benches\, and grab a coffee from Fraser’s Coffee Cart while enjoying a day immersed in gardening\, nature and conservation. \nThis initiative is part of the WA Government’s Kep Katitjin-Gabi Kaadadjan (Waterwise action plan 3) to establish leading waterwise communities for Boorloo (Perth) and Bindjareb (Peel) by 2030.
