DESCRIPTION:Do you love dolphins?\nDo you want to help with our research efforts?\n\nThen this is the event for you! \nJoin us for this free training event and hear from leading scientists and researchers from the Department of Biodiversity\, Conservation and Attractions and Murdoch University. \nLearn more about the Swan Canning river system\, dolphin biology\, the resident dolphin community\, how to identify the different dolphins and the different behaviours you may be lucky enough to observe. You’ll even receive a copy of the latest edition of FinBook – an identification catalogue for dolphins observed in the Swan Canning Riverpark – and a Dolphin Watch volunteer cap. \nAs a trained Dolphin Watcher\, your monitoring reports will contribute to valuable research. Join one of the largest ‘Citizen Scientist’ cohorts in Australia and help us learn more about our resident dolphins and how they use the Riverpark. \nA complimentary supper will be served upon arrival at 6pm with proceedings commencing at 6.30pm. DESCRIPTION:The 2026 River Guardians Family Festival is this weekend – Saturday 2\, May from 9.00am-12.00pm! \nCome and join Gardening Australia’s Josh Byrne\, ABC Radio’s Sabrina Hahn\, Nature Play WA\, scientists from DBCA\, special guest speakers\, wildlife and conservation groups\, not-for-profits and research institutes (sixteen stall holders in total) all working hard to protect our precious Swan Canning Riverpark. \nThere’ll be a choice of four awesome free kid’s activities being run all morning by Nature Play WA at this year’s festival (please see below – no need to book) and there’s also plenty for the adults including a ‘Walk n Talk’ around Lake Douglas and Dolphins and wildlife Photography session. DESCRIPTION:Everlasting Ideas 2026 \nAn inspiring day exploring WA’s unique flora and fauna\, conservation\, research\, and our role in helping nature thrive.\n\nEvent information\n\n\n\nEverlasting Ideas features horticultural expert Josh Byrne together with Kings Park staff. With a series of keynote talks\, this free event will also feature stallholders covering all things gardening\, environment and landcare. \nHead along to the marquees near the Everlasting Meadow at the corner of Lovekin and Forrest Drives\, opposite the Yorkas Nyinning Building to hear talks from Sue McDougall\, Josh Byrne\, NatureLink Perth\, Detection for Good with Kelly the detection dog and ReWild Perth. \nABC’s Gardening Australia presenter and River Guardians Ambassador\, Josh Byrne\, will be on stage delivering his RiverWise Gardens presentation from 11am – 12pm\, with the final 20-30mins allocated to answering your gardening questions! Learn how to create a waterwise\, climate resilient garden that will help protect our precious rivers and support biodiversity and wildlife. \nThe Kings Park and Botanic Garden team will be at their help desk to answer your native gardening questions all day and will be joined with stands from: \n\nSERCUL – growing local plants and fertilise-wise programs\nReWild Perth – advice on how to build eye-catching gardens with local wildlife in mind\nNaturelink Perth – learn how we can work together to conserve WA’s unique biodiversity and integrate nature into our urban areas\nWater Corporation – highlighting waterwise programs and gardening\n\nThe Kings Park Science team will be highlighting some of their incredible research and conservation work. \nEnjoy FREE hands-on family-friendly workshops and nature activities with Kings Park Education supported by Spring into Parks\, a WA Parks Foundation initiative: \n\nEverlasting seed bags – decorate a wildflower-themed bag tag\, then add it to your very own mini bag of Everlasting seeds to grow at home\nWA Loves Nature – native bee displays and bee hotels\nJotterbooks – paper flower-making workshop inspired by native plants found in Kings Park\nWild masks – create a nature-inspired mask featuring colourful wildflowers or your favourite bush critter\nMini gardens – build a magical miniature garden in the sand using native nuts\, seeds and other natural treasures\n\nExplore the container garden bed displays\, unwind at the picnic benches\, and grab a coffee from Fraser’s Coffee Cart while enjoying a day immersed in gardening\, nature and conservation. \nThis initiative is part of the WA Government’s Kep Katitjin-Gabi Kaadadjan (Waterwise action plan 3) to establish leading waterwise communities for Boorloo (Perth) and Bindjareb (Peel) by 2030.

SUMMARY:A day on the Bay
DESCRIPTION:A Day on the Bay is a family-friendly event set against the beautiful backdrop of the Claremont Foreshore. \nThere’ll be all sorts of fun activities taking place on the day including and this year’s event will feature ABC’s Gardening Australia’s Josh Byrne who will give attendees all the tips required to create a RiverWise\, climate resilient garden that will survive our hot summers\, help protect our precious Swan River and support biodiversity and local wildlife. \n\nKayaking\, Paddle boats\, paddle swans and other water-based fun\nKite flying\nBiodegradable glitter station with the Eco Faeries\nSustainability stalls\nCuddly animal farm\nFood vendors\nLive music and performances\nMeet a mermaid\n\nPlus a whole host of other activities are planned for the day. \nThis is a sustainable\, environmentally-friendly event and we ask that you bring your own water bottle. There’ll also be a water tank to allow free refills of water bottles. \nWe encourage walking or cycling to this event. Please see our map here for parking options.
