What's on

The River Guardians program delivers a great range of fun and educational events to the community each year. Keep up to date with what’s happening around the Swan Canning Riverpark here.

In this fascinating presentation, Dr Monica Gagliano unearths the secret language of plants. Scientists are still discovering how
smart plants are, with recent research showing they can sense gravity, light, temperature, soil quality and moisture content. Plants
also repel enemies and trick animals into helping them reproduce. The presentation will pose bigger questions such as are plants capable of learning and do plants have consciousness?
Dr Monica Gagliano is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for Evolutionary Biology at the University of Western Australia.
